Mark Weber leads the Omaha-based consulting firm of Legacy Spectrum Advisor, LLC. In his practice, he works with individuals and families who wish to develop meaningful legacies for their families and communities during lifetime and through their estate plans. He also works with non-profit organizations and groups of professional advisors who work with these individuals and families (such as estate planning attorneys, trust officers, wealth managers and community foundations).
“Financial assets are just one element of a legacy,” explains Weber. “The individuals who are most successful at passing their values to the next generation and outward into their communities are those who put time and effort into:
Probing their motives for leaving financial assets to individuals and/or institutions.
Quantifying how much is “enough” for themselves and “not too much” for their heirs.
Identifying the values that they hold dear and the causes and organizations that are important to them.
Creating a format for ongoing family financial education, storytelling and bonding.
Building a personal board of advisors so they can live the rest of their lives in a state of abundance.”
Before founding Legacy Spectrum Advisor, LLC Mark enjoyed a successful career as a financial advisor to high-net-worth individuals. His book, The Legacy Spectrum (Vinton Street Press, 2018) is a product of his professional experience and the wisdom he and his wife Tricia have gained from creating and executing a legacy plan for their children and grandchildren.
“The Legacy Spectrum resonates on myriad levels, from providing an extremely pragmatic approach for determining how much to leave your children to providing an inspiring, thought-provoking rationale on the importance of leveraging your family bonds and financial assets to positively impact the community well beyond your lifetime. Weber's writing style is readily digestible. This is an incredibly important book—unlike any I've come across on this topic.”
